Procedure for a Commissioned Portrait

1.  Iain's initial meeting with a client will only take a few hours and will be conversation based. They will discuss the specific requirements for the portrait such as; composition i.e. whether it is a single or group portrait, clothing, lighting and mood etc. An agreement will then be drawn up where by the client will pay upfront half the agreed amount for the finished painting. Iain will then take some photographs.
2.  He will then return to his studio and develop an A4 compositional image using Photoshop CC - which he will then send to the client prior to the next sitting for approval.
3.  His next sitting will last approximately 5 hours, depending on the complexity of the composition. During this sitting he may well make some sketches and colour notes but predominantly he will be taking more photographs - some will inevitably be close-up shots.
4.  Iain will return to his studio to paint the portrait which he will deliver upon completion. So, the actual amount of time that would be required from the client would only be around 8 hours.
5.  Due to the intense detail involved in Iain's work the actual painting process is very time consuming, depending on the scale and complexity of the composition a painting can take several months too over a year to complete.
6.  Once the finished painting has been approved and the final payment has been received - the portrait will be securely packaged and delivered either personally or by DHL currier.
